Gingerbread Competition and Boat Parade of Lights WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Celebrate the season with the family! In conjunction with the Savannah Harbor Foundation, the Westin welcomes the public to enjoy an array of complimentary holiday happenings.
Bring you camera and your creativity to view the South's Largest Gingerbread Village and the Westin Winter Wonderland, roll up your sleeves for Craft Hour at the 12 Days of Christmas, or warm up with the soulful sounds of youth choirs and local area bands.
Another favorite is the Boat Parade of Lights, part of the Savannah Harbor Festival of Lights. The Festival of Lights is held the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 26th, and comprises a festive Tree Lighting, holiday concert by Savannah Theatre, Savannah Pipe and Drum Band performances, and of course the lighted Boat Parade, featuring around 50 festively decorated craft on a cruise of the Savannah River.
Now in its eleventh year, the holiday series began as a response to the tragedy of 9/11 - the General Manager of the resort, Mark Spadoni, felt the need to bring some feel-good, family-friendly, uplifting events to the city in the tragedy's aftermath. To this tune, he and other area business people joined forces to form the Savannah Harbor Foundation, an organization with the mission of bringing locals and visitors family-oriented events, and to support local children's charities.
Take a moment away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the meaning of Christmas. Get in the spirit with heartfelt diversions from your daily routine, with a complement of Free family activities.

Saturdays in December don't miss a chance to turn in your wishlists at "Breakfast with Santa" in Aqua Star Restaurant.
This year, you won't want to miss a very special holiday season kick-off concert with the WannaBeatles, a grammy-award winning Beatles cover band out of Nashville. This festive show Friday, Nov. 25th will at once be both exhilarating and heartwarming; the famous Ed Sullivan Show performance jump starts the action, which by the end of the evening will have you swaying gently and humming your favorite Christmas tunes. If you miss the Friday VIP performance, catch the encore community concert on River Street on Saturday. (Tickets)
